Student Services

IFSA-Butler Ireland staff offer a host of services to ease your transition into another country, culture and lifestyle. Please make full use of our services as you settle into your new ‘home’.
IFSA-Butler Orientation
The aim of our on-site orientation is to help prepare you for the academic and cultural changes that await you during your semester, year, or summer abroad. Orientations are also designed to ensure that you have a chance to recover from your travels, learn about Irish history and culture, and partake in social events.
IFSA-Butler Student Weekends
Every semester IFSA-Butler organizes a weekend in Northern Ireland for students studying in the Republic of Ireland, and a Dublin Weekend for Northern Ireland students. Bus transfers, accommodation and most meals are provided as well as a host of activities while there.
IFSA-Butler Student Meals
Each semester, enjoy IFSA-Butler sponsored group meals in your host city. Make your flat-mates envious as they open their tin of baked beans, as you are heading off for a three-course dinner in town! As well as your orientation meals and move-in day meal, we will meet you a few weeks after you have settled in and host a dinner for you all to join us. Towards the end of each semester we will meet again for a fare-well dinner. We will email you details, and also keep an eye on our Events Blog for details on our meals.
Emergency Assistance
IFSA-Butler staff provide emergency assistance to you via the 24-hour emergency pager system.
Housing
Students on our programme are housed in university affiliated accommodation or in property operated by IFSA-Butler (Trinity students and sometimes UCD students). If you encounter any type of housing issues you should contact the IFSA-Butler office.
Academic Advice
IFSA-Butler staff know the academic environment and credit requirements of each university and college in the country. We ensure that you are taking an appropriate number of credits to satisfy your home college’s requirements. We can also answer any questions you have regarding academics and credit transfer.
The IFSA-Butler Student Handbook & Irish Publications
The Student Handbook contains information on academics, credit and grade transfer, emergency contacts and tips, and many more issues relating to your time spent in Ireland. In addition you will regularly receive a copy of An Nuacht, our in-house newsletter.
